Welcome to the College of Biomedical Engineering of Taiyuan University of technology. The early 1980s, Professor Guitong Yang, a famous scientist in mechanics, led the team to start biomechanical research, which is one of the earliest biomechanical research entities in China. In 1984, we began to recruit postgraduates majoring in biomechanics in solid mechanics. In 1989, we began to recruit doctoral students in biomechanics. Master of biomedical engineering program approved in 1995. In 2005, it was approved as a first-class doctoral program in biomedical engineering. Authorization of Biomedical Engineering postdoctoral research work station in 2014. Biomedical engineering is a key subject in Shanxi Province, relying on the College of Biomedical Engineering and Shanxi Key Laboratory of Material strength and structure Shock. In the third and fourth China discipline ranking, Biomedical engineering ranked 22 and 30, respectively.

Our subject focuses on the international frontier of life science and engineering, vital needs of life and medical science, and local demand of Shanxi Province, we have developed four research directions of biomechanics and tissue engineering, nanobiomaterials and regenerative medicine, pharmaceutical engineering, biomedical precise detection and biological information. The research level of biomechanics and tissue engineering is in the forefront in China. Professor Weiyi Chen, the academic leader of the direction, is now the chairman of the national biomechanics Committee.

Our college has 56 full-time teachers, including 9 professors and 25 associate professors. The doctoral rate of teachers is 98%, and 45% of them have overseas study or visiting experience. There are 1 top-notch innovative talents and 3 young academic leaders in Shanxi Province, 26 talents of "Sanjin talent plan", 1 Shanxi outstanding Teachers, 1 Shanxi excellent innovation team, 4 Distinguished Professors.

In the past five years, 33 projects have been approved by the NSFC. Among them, there are 1 key project and more than 70 provincial and ministerial level government sponsored researches. Scientific research funds are more than 12 million Yuan, more than 300 papers have been published, more than 160 of them are SCI indexed, It has authorized more than 50 national invention patents, converted 2 patents, and organized 5 international and domestic academic conferences.

Subject oriented healthy China strategy and regional social development demand for innovative talents in medical devices, biomedical materials, rehabilitation aids and other fields. Training innovative talents through scientific research, actively promote the research and development of frontier technologies related to emerging industries such as biomaterials, medical devices and rehabilitation engineering. We have actively carried out domestic and foreign cooperation research and exchange, and solved many major technical problems related to mechanics and biomedicine. We serve Double Top-Class construction of Taiyuan university of technology, highlighting the characteristics of interdisciplinary innovation, cultivate high-level engineering technology and engineering management talents with international vision.

Subject objectives

Based on the advantages and characteristics of biomechanics and tissue engineering, biopharmaceutical engineering, biomedical precision testing and so on. Aiming at the international academic frontier, closely combining the National Health Strategy, the major needs of economic restructuring and development of Shanxi Province. Through interdisciplinary integration, the key engineering problems of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation in medicine and health care are studied and solved. Strive to cultivate innovative talents with high academic vision and produce high-level theoretical and applied achievements. We will also strive to make breakthroughs in the research and development of cutting-edge technologies such as medical devices and rehabilitation engineering, actively encourage academic exchanges and cooperation, and strengthen the influence of the discipline at home and abroad, Strive to make the overall strength of the discipline reach the domestic first-class and international advanced level within ten years.
